General Hardware Requirements & Compatibility

LifeCare Plus System Requirements

LifeCare® Plus can be run on a wide variety of hardware and operating systems, giving you the flexibility you need to deploy the application across existing infrastructure. Following is a list of baseline compatibility and system requirements to help you plan for LifeCare Plus.

Server Platforms
LifeCare Plus operates on the following server platforms. LSS recommends the platform listed in bolded text.

  • Windows® 2003 Server
  • Windows® 2000 Server
  • SCO Unix OpenServer® Release 5 (or newer)
  • Novell*
  • Windows® NT 4.0 (no longer supported by Microsoft)

Workstation Platforms
LifeCare Plus must be run from a Windows-based workstation, and is compatible with the following versions. LSS recommends the Windows® version listed in bolded text.

  • Windows® XP Professional
  • Windows® 2000 Professional
  • Windows® ME
  • Windows® 98
  • Windows® 95 (no longer supported by Microsoft)

Hardware Requirements
The hardware you employ must meet the minimum system requirements for the operating system (O/S) installed on it. For example, if you run LifeCare Plus on a Windows 2000 server, then your server must meet the minimum system requirements for Windows 2000.

Additional Requirements
In addition to the minimum requirements for each O/S, LSS recommends the following:

  • 512 MB of RAM on the server (more RAM is always better)
  • 500 MB of available hard disk space on the server for each facility
  • 128 MB of RAM for each workstation (more RAM is always better)
  • 125 MB of available hard disk space on each workstation
  • At least one CD-R/RW drive for log file archiving purposes
  • A tape backup system
  • PCAnywhere® installed on either the server or at least one workstation with access to the server (requires a modem or broadband connection)

MDS System Requirements

Server Platforms
MDS uses a Sybase SQL Anywhere backend, and the server application operates on the following platforms. LSS recommends the platform listed in bolded text.

  • Windows® 2003 Server*
  • Windows XP*
  • Windows® 2000 Server
  • Windows® 98 2nd Edition
  • Windows® NT 4.0 (no longer supported by Microsoft)

Workstation Platforms
MDS clients must connect using a Windows-based workstation. It is compatible with the following versions. LSS recommends the Windows® version listed in bolded text.

  • Windows® 2003 Server*
  • Windows XP*
  • Windows® 2000 Server
  • Windows® ME
  • Windows® 98 2nd Edition
  • Windows® NT 4.0 (no longer supported by Microsoft)
