Billing Bedholds
An important reminder for those of you who bill Medicaid / Public Aid / Medical Assistance! If you bill bedholds based on occupancy, make sure extra beds are not added to the Room / Bed Master File. The system uses the number of beds in the Room / Bed master file to calculate the occupancy percentage. When changes are made and new room and bed combinations are added, remember to delete the old, unused combinations. An accurate room and bed count will ensure an accurate occupancy percentage!
If the facility is full and a spare bed is needed:
- In the Health Center Admission, transfer residents to the room number 999 with bed S. This is a default room and bed combination, designed for this purpose. Many residents may be assigned to this combination at the same time. However, make sure that this combination is not included in the Room / Bed Master File, to prevent any extra beds!
