Using Miscellaneous Billing ID's
Miscellaneous Billing ID's can be used in either Resident or Health Center Billing since they are independent of any Profile. They are configured in the Misc. Billing Master File in each module (the miscellaneous billing ID's are not shared across the modules).
Here are some suggestions on when you might use miscellaneous ID numbers in Billing:
- Non-residents or Independent Living (IL) for therapy services such as PT, OT and massage
- Non-residents or IL residents for flu shots
- Prospective residents on Wait List for any services or meals
- Staff and guests for meals
- Non-residents for day care
- Residents and others for special activities such as day trips or a fashion show
- Vendors for the use of space, such as beauty and barber services
- Residents' families for a special party
- Clubs and/or Associations for the use of a meeting room
Miscellaneous ID's require 6 characters or spaces. If you are entering an ID that is less than 6 characters, simply add the extra spaces.
In the maintenance phase, when you are creating a miscellaneous ID, the system will demand or automatically assign an 'M' as the first character at the beginning of the ID.
When you attempt to use a miscellaneous ID number you must remember to enter the 'M' as the first character or the system will default to searching for a resident/patient ID as opposed to the miscellaneous ID number you are attempting to bill. In other words, a user must enter M12345 or MJEFFE for the miscellaneous ID; the system will not recognize 123456 or JEFFER as the miscellaneous but rather as a resident/patient ID instead. Since it is the 'M' that distinguishes miscellaneous ID's from other ID's, the system will assign an initial 'M' to any other 5 characters (alphanumeric or spaces) you choose when creating a miscellaneous ID (automatic).
Most importantly, remember to enter the 'M' when using the miscellaneous ID for billing purposes.
