Billing A Resident After His/Her Spouse Expires
There may come a time when you are unable to bill a resident after his or her spouse dies. Before you "expire" the deceased resident (either in the resident's admit record in Health Center Admissions or through Occupancy Status Change in Resident Management) make sure to separate the couple financially. To do this:
- From the Resident Management main menu, choose Maintain Financial Party.
- Select the resident to be separated from the deceased resident and hit ENTER.
- The names of the two residents who are combined will appear with the responsible financial party listed first. Next you will want to choose Separate Financial Data by clicking on the circle next to the selection. To do this, click OK. This will separate the two residents financially, enabling the user to bill the surviving resident.
- The deceased resident can now be expired, through Health Center Admissions or Occupancy Status Changes, depending on the resident's status.
- After the residents have been separated, the use the Transfer/Combine A/R in the Resident Billing Menu to transfer any outstanding balance to the surviving resident.
