Setting Up Room Rates

Your community or facility has Life Care (LC) and Life Care Dementia (LD) units. You need to set up contractualized billing for the two different payor types so that you can bill for Room and Board charges and have that written off, but in the Dementia unit you need an automatic surcharge. You have two different room types for the different units. What you need to do is set up two different 01 rates. Here's how it works.

Payor Type (2 digit numeric) Room Type (1 character alpha)

Example #1: for the Life Care/LC Unit

• 01 A rate = $200 in the Daily Room Rate amount (The A represents Room Type A),
• LC rate = $0 in the Daily Room Rate amount.
• It bills $200 and then writes off the $200.

Example #2: for the Life Care Dementia/LD Unit

• 01 B rate = $200 in the Daily Room Rate amount (The B represents Room Type B), and a Nursing Rate of $50.
• LD rate = $0 in the Daily Room Rate amount, and $50 in the Nursing Rate field.
• It bills $200 and then writes off the $200 but because the Nursing Rate is equal in both the 01 rate and the LD rate, the Nursing Rate does NOT get written off.
